I know everyone is like “Sam and Dean are back to their season one relationship!”, and honestly, I couldn’t disagree more.  Sure, the tone is lighter and the fact that they’ve been through Hell (literally) isn’t punching you repeatedly in the face, but they’re so much better off than that now.  Season one was all about Sam getting ready to go back to school once they got shit done and having a bitterness about living this life in the first place.  And Dean was just trying to get him to stay and waiting for the other shoe to drop and for Sam to be gone.  And they’re over that.  They’re over walking out on the other because I think they’ve realized that they always find their way back anyway.  They’re not waiting for the other to walk out the door and leave them.  They’re all they have, and while that has always been pretty much true, it’s really hitting them hard now.  And they’re accepting that.  They’re on the same page which hasn’t happened in the previous seasons.  He’s here.  If I’m only left with one goddamn thing in the world, I’m glad it’s him.

Yes, and I’m reblogging this moment again because I love it so fucking much. Why? Because they’re happy. His little brother is alive and absurdly covered in glitter, and Dean is gleefully happy about it. Dean is laughing, really laughing for the first time certainly since Bobby died, but probably a whole lot longer, and that makes Sam happy. He can’t even manage a bitchface. Yes, they’ll be right back in shit next week, but for this moment, they’re happy.
